DENVER, Colo. – Feb. 19, 2025 – HarperDB, bringing next-level web performance to a digital-first world, today announced that it has been named an IDC Innovator in the report, IDC Innovators: Edge Inference Delivery, 2024 (Doc #: US52767224, December 2024).

IDC Innovator reports highlight emerging vendors that are offering new technology, a groundbreaking solution to an existing issue, and/or an innovative business model. Deploying and managing data-dependent workloads in highly distributed environments is a complex and costly challenge for most organizations. Digital transformation and the proliferation of AI in the enterprise calls for the processing of real-time data at the edge, but existing infrastructures and data management processes are often inadequate or too complex to maintain and manage properly.

Harper Named an IDC Innovator in the report, IDC Innovators: Edge Inference Delivery, 2024

HarperDB was founded on the belief that a development platform should make scaling modern applications in highly distributed and diverse environments easy, faster, with lower global latency, and greater cost efficiency – removing the barriers to performance and innovation. To do this, HarperDB has collapsed the traditional software stack into a single technology, on a single server. Database caching, application and messaging functions are combined into one high-performant offering.

"Across all industries, business and IT leaders can see the opportunities for improvement and acceleration of innovation, but the ability to streamline and secure highly distributed IT services is a barrier to progress. Modernized edge infrastructure and management technologies can address this complexity and accelerate the shift from data deluge to data-driven insights and operations." — Jennifer Cooke, IDC Research Director, Edge Trends and Strategies

HarperDB’s support of distributed systems and low-latency architecture enables users to natively dispense and synchronize data across geographically distributed locations – fast. As a result, users can make better, more informed decisions from data, tap new revenue streams, and achieve greater business agility and operational resiliency.

“What was impossible is now accessible to every developer,” said Stephen Goldberg, CEO and Co-Founder of HarperDB. “We understand that edge resources operate under capacity limitations and have built a system with an architecture that allows for nearly limitless horizontal scale. Our deep geo-redundancy and low network latency makes app development faster and ongoing maintenance easy – even as application requirements change over time. We are proud to be recognized as an IDC Innovator. We believe we received this recognition for our  future-forward approach and for the new levels of reliability, scale, and performance we bring to data teams.”

HarperDB streams data with a fault-tolerant system that is ideal for bandwidth-constrained locations, allowing for mass data ingestion and AI-based decision making on the same edge system vs. connecting, deploying, and maintaining multiple systems to achieve the same functionality. See how HarperDB delivered fault-tolerant data connectivity between autonomous aquatic drones, aerial drones, and ground command stations for the U.S. Navy in project Common Operational Database.

About HarperDB

Harper enables companies to achieve web speed, scale, and performance levels never seen before – with customers reporting as much as 7x faster page loads, nearly 30x faster LCPs, and more than 25 percent year-over-year revenue growth. Its innovative, backend technology collapses the traditional software stack into one highly-efficient, low-latency system with limitless horizontal scale. By combining data, application, cache, and messaging functions into a single process, on a single server, Harper eliminates the constraints and complexity of building, distributing, and maintaining data-dependent applications. In doing so, Harper unlocks new revenue streams for its clients and inspires dev teams to innovate without compromise. To learn more, visit www.harperdb.io

About IDC Innovators

An IDC Innovators report presents a set of vendors – under $100M in annual revenue at the time of selection – chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market that offer a new technology, a groundbreaking solution to an existing issue, and/or an innovative business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation or a comparative ranking of all companies, but rather a document that highlights innovative companies in a specific market segment. IDC INNOVATOR and IDC INNOVATORS are trademarks of International Data Group, Inc.

Most LLM Calls Are Waste. Here's the Math.

Semantic caching for LLMs can reduce API costs by 20–70% by reusing similar responses. Combined with deterministic routing and improved retrieval, enterprises can significantly lower LLM usage, though effectiveness varies by workload and improves over time.
